Year 6

On the last day of Term 1, the school community gathered together to dramatise Holy Week. Holy Week refers to the last week of Jesus’ human life. Year 2 commenced by re-enacting Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Kindergarten then depicted how Jesus taught His disciples to love and serve one another by washing their feet. Year 1 showed Jesus at The Last Supper where he instituted the Eucharist by sharing bread and wine with his disciples. Jesus’ quiet time int he Garden of Gethsemene before he was arrested was depicted by Year 3. Year 4 showed Pontius Pilate’s dilemma of having to decide the fate of an innocent man in the face of the general public who had turned against Jesus. Jesus’ humiliation by his captors before his death was dramatically enacted by Year 5. The final scene in Jesus’ passion - his crucifixion, was shown by Year 6.
The dramatisation showed the sad and terrible things that happened to Jesus, culminating in his death, but his resurrection on Easter Sunday inspired all to believe that Jesus was truly God’s Son. The scene of the empty tomb after his Resurrection was mimed by Year 6 students.
