Reading Recovery

Reading Recovery is a highly effective short-term intervention in reading and writing  for Year 1 students. The intervention compliments quality classroom teaching.

Individual students receive a half-hour lesson each school day for 12 to 20 weeks with a specially trained Reading Recovery teacher. As soon as students demonstrate that they can meet grade-level expectations and demonstrate that they can continue to work independently in the classroom, their lessons are discontinued. At this time, new students begin individual instruction. The length of time a child is on the program can vary. The program may also identify children who require long-term specialist support.
